Posted on 2025-04-10
The editorial team of the Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Review (BSEMR) invites scholars and practitioners to submit original research articles for our Fall 2025 issue. As an open-access, peer-reviewed journal, BSEMR is dedicated to fostering a comprehensive understanding of the Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean (BSEM) region across a broad array of disciplines, including politics, international relations, history, social and economic issues, energy, sustainable development, governance, culture, and education.
Exploring Regional Dynamics: Conflict in the BSEM the “Day After”
More to the point The BSEMR is inviting articles that critically examine the recent and ongoing conflicts in the BSEM and the consequences thereof in terms of:
a. statehood, but also the impact on states and on societies to continue their existence with some normalcy and predictability.
b. in terms of the application of international law and validity of international relations frameworks.
c. more general subversive or otherwise developments affecting the BSEM region.
Of particular interest are also analyses that consider the evolving ceasefire processes and maturing peace efforts in conflict zones such as Gaza and Ukraine.
Put differently, contributors are encouraged to insightfully contemplate the “day after” scenarios and prospects, as well as the diverse repercussions these transitions might have on regional stability, economic prospects, governance frameworks, social dynamics and environmental sustainability.
Interdisciplinary Perspectives
We welcome contributions that offer interdisciplinary insights into the region's complex tapestry of issues. Submissions that explore the interplay between regional and global factors, such as international diplomatic efforts, economic sanctions, or humanitarian responses are highly encouraged. Articles that bridge multiple disciplines provide a more nuanced understanding of the intricate challenges and opportunities facing the BSEM region.
